Many thanks to visual artist Lauren Gillette for allowing us the opportunity to print her work for her current show, Momentum XI, at the George Marshall Gallery in York, ME. Lauren is showing her work along with photographer Bear Kirkpatrick and painter Rose Umerlik. I hope you all get a chance to get over there. First time I saw Lauren’s work was at The Parlor at Plainspoke. The show was titled “Wish/Regret” (pictured above). She makes mug shots look good. Lindsey Lohan should have modeled. Seriously, this current show will be something you won’t expect. You’ll laugh, you’ll have to think, you might even be insulted. Lauren is one of a kind, She was fun to talk to and work with and I wish I had been in NH to go to the reception to see everything put together, but I’m hopefully going this Saturday. I’ll take some snaps if it’s allowed. Please make it over. If it wasn’t for working with Lauren, I wouldn’t even know this show was happening. So make it over and show some support for Lauren, Bear and Rose.
“Hello Friends, I am creating this event to ask you to donate your unwanted, extra, or used colored pencils to a new art piece I am making for Space Gallery (Portland, ME). Every little bit helps! I will be collecting colored pencils until Sunday, Feb 17th. Please feel free to pass the word. Thanks in advance for helping to make this project possible!” -Carly Glovinski
